You are cordially invited to a talk to be given by Mrs. Klara Doroszlay entitled, “Cardinal Joseph Mindszenty: The man, his times and legacy.” Cardinal Joseph Mindszenty (1892 to 1975) was Catholic Primate of Hungary from 1945 to 1971. Prior to his enthronement as Cardinal, Joseph Mindszenty had held senior positions in the Catholic Church in Hungary (e.g. he had served as Bishop of Veszprem). Although Cardinal Mindszenty held high office he never shirked from defending the rights of the vulnerable. During the German occupation of Hungary (1944 to 1945) Cardinal Mindszenty was imprisoned for speaking in defence of the Jewish population, specifically against their deportation from Hungary to death camps.
